Proposal Title: A fast pulse, portable fast neutron Source for special nuclear materials detection
Topic Number: H-SB07.2-007
Phase: Phase II
Topic Title: Neutron and Photon Generators for Advanced Special Nuclear Material (SNM) Interrogation and Verification Systems
Organization: Alameda Applied Sciences Corporation
Address: 626 Whitney St
San Leandro, CA 94577-1116
Abstract: Alameda Applied Sciences Corp proposes to develop a fast pulse, portable, fast neutron source to detect SNM in the field. Our source offers a <100ns neutron pulse with a repetition rate up to 100Hz. The goal is to develop a source with 1000hrs of continuous operation at >1E8 n/s. The Ph II program will develop and validate a prototype for SNM detection. The commercial goal is to develop a replacement to existing neutron tube sources for applications that benefit from a fast neutron
