|Abstract:||Concerns over chemical and biological weapons motivate interest in "smart" building technologies that incorporate a network of sensors for Chemical and Biological (CB) threat agents. Applied Nanotech, Inc. (ANI) proposes to collaborate with Lagus Applied Technology, Inc. (LAT) to develop and demonstrate a Sensor Network Design Tool (SNDT) for the optimal, rapid and verifiable deployment of CB sensors. Both ANI and LAT bring significant existing capabilities to the proposed effort. The foundation for the development effort will be the CB-PROTECT software for predictive modeling of contaminant migration within complex building structures. ANI will develop Sensor Network Design and CB Sensor Database software modules that integrate with CB_Protect. The SNDT will embody straightforward design protocols to guide an inexpert user through a comprehensive methodology to designate where to install chemical and biological sensors in buildings, transportation hubs or venues like arenas and stadiums. At the end of the Phase I effort, ANI will conduct a field trial of the system to demonstrate proof of concept.|
