Abstract: DHS is committed to strengthening interest in science and technology (SandT) studies and career choices, and in elevating SandT understanding within various populations. One of the expected learning facilitators is a wealth of contemporary scientific information and discoveries emanating from DHS Centers of Excellence. And one of the populations that could potentially benefit greatly from access to these resources is the general K-12 learning community. To develop DHS Centers of Excellence content and outcomes as supplemental SandT learning material, a number of reported problems and obstacles must first be addressed. The Athena Group has identified a strategy and technology that overcomes the problems associated with converting DHS content into supplemental learning materials for mainstream K-12 education. Athenas efforts focus on developing a science fair support technology, an activity that is reported to be one of the best learning experiences a student can undertake. The resulting solution, called I Do, fuses simulation-based learning and scenario-based learning, two areas of Athena expertise.
